I still remember the day I started my
journey from my home, Hyderabad – The City of Nizams to Bangalore – The Garden
City of India. I was holding my mom’s hand shivering, not that I was scared of
travelling solo but that feeling of going to a new city and the after effects
of me reaching and knowing nothing about the city except for it being the
silicon valley of India. So I had decided to travel by Mercedes Benz, first of
all it’s the brand that made me book that bus secondly I wanted the best bus
for my first experience on travelling solo.
I chose bus because it arrives faster
it than train and better travel experience than a plane. Yes because you could
watch movies being played on the LCD screen and also you could always listen to
music and look through the window for better sceneries. So yeah I boarded the bus at around eight in
the morning with a back pack and a laptop bag. Well since I was travelling, you
know how parents stuff your bag with all the eatables as if I would die of
hunger. I was all excited when the bus started I waved goodbye to my parents
and friends who came along to the bus station to wish me good luck.
My Journey has started. The first
hour of the journey was mostly inside the city picking up other passengers from
different pick up stops in the city. By the end of the first hour or an hour
and half the bus reached shamshabad on NH-7. That is where I saw the first milestone
board on my left which said Bangalore – 547 Kilo meters. So I was happy and was
started doing math that it was pretty much less in number and could be easily
covered in 8 hours if the driver maintains the constant speed of 70 kilo metres
per hour. But I didn’t have any clue about what was going to happen for the next
12 hours.
The road was really good and it
filled my heart and planned to take a giant leap towards the sceneries that I
was looking it. It was lush green farms on both the sides. A long stretch of
rocky hills that made every passenger look at them with awe. It looked pleasant
in the morning looking at farmers guiding their herd of cattle. We came across
the first village which was very small in area that I could see the entire
village and kids going to school playing and smiling. Soon we reached the first
pit stop at 10:30 A.M near Jadcherla.
There we stopped at a dhaba for
breakfast. Not to mention it was neat as you would not expect it to be that
neat. I had opted for an English breakfast which included Cheese Bread Omelette
and Fresh Orange Juice. Trust me it made my stomach spin and Spin my head. I
felt I got drugged and started an argument with the owner. He got scared and
had to refund my money on the breakfast. It was my first win in argument with a
vendor, now that is an achievement and is definitely going into my books.
So we started at 11 from Jadcherla
and the roads were pretty awesome because it started raining and the songs that
were being played connected the dots accordingly. It was romantic indeed. Soon
we entered the newly inaugurated 4 lane road which had all the ingredients that
could meet your expectations, straight road which looked like horizon. It was
dark due to heavy clouds and with hills and greenery around gave the chill
feels of a hill station. I took my mobile to capture some pictures of the
scenery but the battery was low and soon my eyes struck at the charging point
next to my seat. I did not expect that it to be there.
We made another pit stop for lunch at
a Punjabi dhaba, this time I risked to fill my stomach and it was a wise
decision, though I was hesitant for 15 minutes. We started and hit the roads.
It mostly was the same roads and hills here and there. Soon I fell asleep and
it was 5 PM and realised that the rain had stopped. I was shocked that I had 3
more hours to travel and spent the next three hours watching a movie on my
laptop. I had reached Bangalore at 9 PM, not as promised at 8 PM.
So this was my first experience travelling solo,
not adventurous but yes it was ok to an extent and the rain and scenery made my
journey sumptuous.
